Living in the Shadow of Il Vulture ... I imagine there will be much to write about ...
This volcano in southern Italy has lain dormant for over a century. In July, I have the privilege of joining my husband when he goes to survey the roads found on an archaeological dig in a valley at the base of this magnificent mound, a dig that has been on-going for the past four years. As the time grows near for our departure, I find an excitement developing about our latest adventure. We spent several weeks in Tuscany last summer and fell in love with Italy then, vowing to go back as soon as we could. Who could have imagined we would be afforded an opportunity so quickly, that we would be returning this very next summer? It seems almost magical ... I wonder if the light in the south can compete with that of Tuscany? It won't matter, I know. All of Europe holds an indefinable charm for us and we are open to it.
